I am a game developer that plays way too many Nintendo Games, gaining inspiration and insights from them.
Early Life

I came from the humble Choa Chu Kang Primary School and because of my low scores in my PSLE, my uncle took me in to study at Chung Cheng High School (Yishun). There I met people of many different backgrounds and some of my best friends with whom I still hold contacts today.

I then graduated and went to Singapore Poly to study Diploma in Information Technology,

branching to Games Development under the same course. There I learned how to code and make games primarily in 3D. I became a valuable asset among my classmates as I can provide decent art for the games that are made during that time.

Influence of Nintendo

My first gaming console was a portable Gameboy Advance SP which I played most during my primary school days. I never had a Sony or Xbox console largely because I absolutely love the games published by Nintendo. That obsession grew to the point where I have multiple versions of the same consoles(3 x 3ds's) and even bought the same game twice to unlock special in-game items due to my lack of friends who play these games.

When the Nintendo Switch came out I bought it within the release week along with controllers to share with my friends and family. A few years later the Switch Lite was announced but I figured I would make my 1st switch to play multiplayer games and buy a Switch Lite for single-player games.

Savings from my National Service pay
went to buying many switch games/peripherals. I am always searching for good deals and discounts online

Along these consoles come the variety of games that I've played and collect. From popular games like the Pokemon series to niche indie games such as One Step from Eden.

I primarily like action games but I also occasionally buy puzzle games such as the Professor Layton series and party games such as Just Dance 2019.

For me, Nintendo-made games always had the appeal to be the most genuine in presenting their ideas as fun and engaging. This comes with many challenges with originality and we always see Nintendo trying out new tech as well as fresh gameplay as the company progresses.

As Shigeru Miyamoto, lead designer for Nintendo once said: "If you’re trying to make ‘something to sell’, there will be various failures. Instead of making something to sell, the most important thing is to make something you believe will be interesting."
